Jane Bower

Jane Bower is an experienced and enthusiastic KS1 and 2 teacher, author, artist and actor. She offers practical teaching and Inset to those seeking to develop their skills using Art, Drama, Dance andEnglish to creatively address the broader curriculum. Working with teachers, TAs and children, she discusses your specific needs thoroughly so that the training meets your exact requirements.

Art  - Jane works with children and staff to your chosen theme, using your choice of media and techniques, including drawing, painting, clay, textiles, printing, bookmaking and display. Clear & manageable methods, practical for the classroom are shown, resources and books recommended, and reference made to the work of relevant artists. Sessions are informal, practical and relaxed, and offer a wealth of stimulating and exciting ideas for all levels. 
 

Drama – innovative and confidence-building sessions use practical ideas to explore drama and Mantle of the Expert as learning tools and address cross-curricular topics, improving pupil’s use of language, problem-solving, teamwork and writing. Workshops can bring a historical period to life, explore a painting or story from within, develop presentation skills and be linked with art, dance or literacy sessions. Staff Inset will equip teachers with a range of exciting ideas manageable by specialists and non-specialists alike.

Dance – Introduces children to dance as alanguage, and explores ways of storytelling, expressing feelings, and responding to music. Inset provides practical ideas, planning, resources, guidance on choosing music, and innovative methods of warming up and cooling down. Sessions run at your chosen comfort level and use a variety of starting points for inspiration. Jane can focus on exploring dance for pleasure through to devising a whole school performance.

English – Pupil and staff sessions incorporate a range of alternative and imaginative approaches to speaking, listening, reading and writing. Children explore words in new ways and learn to use them creatively to address many writing genres. Jane aims to foster a fascination for words, leave children stimulated and keen to write further, and teachers with exciting ideas they feel confident and enthusiastic about - and desperate to try!
