Organised by Linghams Booksellers, the event formed part of a national tour to promote Tony’s recently released autobiography ‘No Cunning Plan’ which charts the ups and downs of a career spanning 50 plus years and covering his roles as actor, author, presenter, comedian, producer, political activist and Knight of the realm.

At this time Wirral was home to a number of competitive performance festivals including the Wallasey Music Festival and the Pensby Festival but over time these others have faded into history, leaving Bromborough, as the lone survivor. Playground Buddies to beat the Bullys

Published on 11-11-2017 During the recent Antibullying week it came to light that more schools are adopting ‘Playground Buddy Schemes’ to tackle the problem of bullying in school. A buddy scheme is usually launched in response to problems in the playground such as fighting, unruly behaviour or equipment being broken but can also be used as a proactive measure to prevent problems starting. The idea is to give some older children in the school a sense of responsibility and to involve them in helping to resolve conflict and prevent issues arrising.

Daisy & Jake educate Indian Street Children

Published on 11-11-2017 For the last ten years, Chamber Member, Daisy & Jake Nurseries have sponsored a Day Centre in India via a charity called The Tender Heart Foundation. The foundation offers help and hope to street children, providing a basic Early Years education that could lead to a primary school place at the age of 6. These children would otherwise face a much bleaker future. The foundation builds relationships with local families to end the cycle of child poverty through education while also helping with basic essentials like food and shelter for children who would otherwise go without.

Wirral's First Bi Lingual Nursery opens

Published on 11-11-2017 Jenny Birch from Wallasey has opened Habla, a Spanish-English dual language nursery on the site of the former Wendy House Nursery in Upton. Habla is the first Wirral nursery to provide fully bilingual early years provision and will cater for up to 30 children. Jenny, who studied Spanish at school and university, set up Habla with her mother, Lynne, who has worked in primary schools for over 25 years and will manage the nursery full time.
