For Primary schools Black Box tours productions and workshops annually reaching 85,000 young people across the North West and beyond. Productions, such as A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Macbeth and Romeo & Juliet and, through the Christmas/New Year period, Stig of the Dump, serve to complement the National Curriculum.

Issue-based Productions such as The Green Panto (environment/ health & well being), Harry the Horror (anti-bullying), Hanging Around (In conjunction with Crimestoppers) and Can’t Go! Won’t Go! (attendance and attainment) also offer support to teaching staff.

Secondary school work includes a GCSE Revision Project – an abridged production of classic texts supported by an interactive forum workshop – includes Macbeth, Hamlet and Steinbeck’s Of Mice and Men.

The company is particularly proud of its Bespoke Projects Service and offers free consultation to structure and budget work within individual schools including:

Magic Lantern – a series of film-related drama pieces / discussions in association with Magic Lantern (Switzerland) and Woolton Picturehouse.

Rubbish?! – in association with Merseyside Waste Disposal Authority, aimed at heightening the reduce, re-use, recycle message.

Smoke Free Kids: Don’t Make Us Breathe Your Smoke – Passive Smoking Awareness Production and Interactive Forum.

Wirral Schools Showcase – a production-managed event which show-cased 19 Specialist Strand Wirral Secondary Schools.

Enterprise Your Future – funded by Greater Merseyside Education Business Link Organisation raising the awareness of Enterprise; what enterprise means, the skills you need to be successful in the ever changing world we live in, taking opportunities and risks, entrepreneurial spirit and financial awareness.

Black Box provides Residencies, Commissions, Arts Festivals & Book Weeks and The Black Box venue is available to hire for conferences and team meetings. Previous clients include BBC Scotland, Channel 4, Granada TV, Hat Trick, Oxford Stage Company, Willy Russell, Everyman and Playhouse Theatres, (LIPA), NHS and Options for Supported Living.
